“I want to help my clients live their best lives. To figure out what lights them up, how they will feel most fulfilled, and leave a legacy they are proud of. Matching resources to dreams is my specialty.”
After graduating from Dartmouth College with a degree in Economics, I initially thought I wanted to be an accountant. It made perfect sense—I was great at math and enjoyed the puzzle of debits and credits. But one day, as I sat alone working on a spreadsheet, I realized that while I loved numbers, I was a people person. I wanted to change lives, not just companies.
At the time, I was fortunate to work at a large CPA firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which had a financial planning department. That’s where I began my journey in financial planning. From there, I moved to an international law firm in Boston, where I worked from 1997 until 2001.
I loved helping people gain financial confidence, knowing everything was on track—whether it was managing their money, sending their kids to school, or planning for retirement. During this time, I also pursued my education, earning an MBA from Boston University and a Master of Science in Finance from Boston College. Additionally, I became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. In 2001, I followed my dream of becoming an entrepreneur, and Abaris Financial Group was born.
My passion for personal growth began in 2012 when I impulsively decided to attend Jon Kabat-Zinn’s mindfulness program at UMass. This life-changing introduction to mindfulness, combined with the work I did with an exceptional coach and life planner, opened a new path for me and for my work at Abaris Financial Group.
I started achieving goals I hadn’t had the courage to pursue before, and just as importantly, I let go of things that no longer aligned with my values. When you view life through the lens of fulfillment, you find clarity, freedom, and abundance. I realized that my purpose is to inspire growth in others, and I wanted to incorporate that into my work at Abaris.
I pursued training through the Coaches Training Institute, The Gottman Institute, The Kinder Institute, and The Financial Transitionist Institute®. I became a Master Registered Life Planner (RLP®) and a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC®). I pour all of this experience and passion into my work with clients through life planning and coaching. My goal is to inspire, motivate, and empower my clients to live their uniquely fulfilling lives. I invite you to join me on this journey.
I learned two important lessons about finances growing up. The first was the importance of feeling comfortable discussing money. Money was never a taboo topic at our dinner table. My parents believed that since they worked hard to earn their salaries, we should talk about how it was spent. These discussions, whether about big or small purchases, helped me understand the value of money and how to prioritize goals while appreciating the value of both material items and experiences.
The second lesson came when I was a teenager, working my first job cleaning cages at a local animal hospital. My father helped me open a ROTH IRA, encouraging me to save a percentage of my earnings. Looking back, this was the best gift he gave me. Watching that account grow over the years became a powerful reminder of the magic of compounding. It was an interesting choice to open a retirement account rather than a savings account, but it turned out to be a smart decision, as I never considered raiding the balance during my college years.
After graduating from the University of Florida and working in a fast-paced trading floor job, I took time off to stay home with my two young daughters. However, I found myself wanting to return to the world of finance. Over coffee with a friend, a full-time doctor and mother, I realized how uncomfortable she was with her family’s finances. Together, we worked through her fears, created a budget, and developed long-term strategies. This was a lightbulb moment for me—I realized this is what I was passionate about. I wanted to use my personal experiences, education, and skills to help others.
As fate would have it, I met Abbey Henderson and learned about the unique approach Abaris Financial Group takes to help clients with both financial and life goals. I happily joined the team in 2017, with Abbey as my guide and mentor, and began pursuing my CFP designation through Boston University while working at Abaris. Here, I found my true career passion, working with wonderful clients and colleagues. My goal is to help empower Abaris clients on their financial life journeys, and I am grateful to be part of that journey!
I came to the world of financial planning and wealth management in a very circuitous route.
Early on, as a competitive high school golfer, I aspired to play golf in college and then continue on in the golf industry after graduation. After a challenging senior year on the golf course, I changed direction and rekindled my passion for baseball, which I had not played competitively in many years. After taking a year off, I ventured to Rollins College in Florida and then to Fairfield University in Connecticut to play baseball while studying business administration. Sitting in the library one day during my senior year of college, I began to reflect back on my experiences as a high school athlete and everything that I had gone through during the athletic recruiting process. I started writing about my experiences, which eventually turned into a book called The Making of a Student-Athlete, which has been featured in such publications as the New York Times and Boston Globe.
After graduation, I worked in the website development field for several years, building and maintaining websites for small businesses and corporations. This position allowed me to develop the technology skills I have continued leveraging in every position since then.
Needing a change and wanting to share my experiences further, I then went off on my own and launched a website to accompany my book, which helps parents and high school athletes navigate the challenging college selection and athletic recruiting process. I love helping kids and parents, and this is a project that I continue today.
I arrived at Abaris in 2011, when I was looking for new challenges and new ways to utilize my varied skill set. I joined the firm as an operations manager. I was excited by the opportunity to assist a great team of financial planners in a support role that would utilize both my writing and technology backgrounds. What I like most about Abaris is that the goal is not simply to manage money but to connect with clients on a personal level and assist them with identifying and achieving whatever goals they may have in life. Each day we work to make those goals a reality.
My passions include spending time with my dogs, boating, fishing, scuba diving, and being in and around the ocean.
